Henry Cowell Redwoods Elopement
If exchanging your vows under some of the tallest trees in the world appeals to you, then don’t sleep on the redwoods. No matter how many times I see these giants, I am always awestruck by their sheer size and beauty. Glancing up at them always takes my breath away, especially when the afternoon light filters through the treetops that seem to disappear into the sky.
I met Megan and Craig at a beautiful airbnb that their family had rented, a little cabin nestled under the redwoods in Ben Lomond, CA. The drive up the narrow winding road to their airbnb was absolutely beautiful in itself, and upon arriving at their airbnb, I was struck by how private the property was. The afternoon light that streamed in through the skylight in their cabin illuminated the room and created a perfectly lit getting-ready space.
Their ceremony in Henry Cowell was short and sweet, after which we hung around for portraits while their family left to prep for their evening plans.
It was a beautiful evening exploring the redwoods, especially when we had the whole place to ourselves! As the sun started to set, we headed down to the beach where we met up again with the rest of their families for dinner of pizza over a beach bonfire. Megan & Craig ran down to the edge of the water and dipped their toes in the sand as the waves lapped at their feet, the sky turning a deep pink and blue hue. Darkness fell quickly as the family sat around enjoying their food and the warmth of the fire; even their dog curled up on a chair under a blanket and watched the dancing flames of the fire that lit his precious face in a warm orange glow. :’) It was a moment so simple yet so precious, and one that’s ingrained in my memory for sure!
