Southern Oregon Hiking Elopement Adventure
Earlier this year, I had taken a trip up to Oregon for personal reasons, and fell madly in love with the rugged Oregon coastline. As someone who can’t decide whether I like mountains, oceans or forests more, everything about the Oregon coast spoke to me. Since then, I dreamed of the day I could shoot in Oregon and spend more time in this magical state.
When Paige & Westley first reached out to me for an adventure anniversary session in Brookings Oregon just two months after my initial trip, part of me felt like I was dreaming. Imposter syndrome kicked in for a moment, and I nearly declined their inquiry for fear that I might mess this up (especially since Paige is an amazing adventure elopement photographer herself!). But I’m glad I didn’t let that fear take over me because this session turned out to be a session of my dreams *_* !
I met Paige & Westley at their pretty airbnb in Brookings Oregon, which had beautiful forest views and a peek-a-boo view of the ocean beyond. Their airbnb had a little sun room that we spent most time in. They made and drank coffee together before getting dressed — a little simple and quiet moment that I actually found so special :’)
P+W were celebrating their 10-year dating anniversary, and since they didn’t have any wedding photos that they liked from their wedding a couple years ago, they decided to have elopement-style portraits taken during their anniversary trip to Oregon. As an adventure elopement photographer herself, Paige was down for all the adventure as we ventured along the Oregon coast for their portraits.
We hiked an extremely steep trail, braved steep drop-offs & edges, scrambled up and down rocks, and had so much fun adventuring together :’) As someone who loves hiking and adventure, I’ve wanted for so long to photograph a fellow adventurous couple who isn’t afraid to get dirty on their elopement day. P+W made all those dreams come true.
Since her skirt did not pick up any dirt at our first location, Paige very excitedly jumped into a puddle of mud when we got out of the car at our second location. We hiked down to the beach that we had all to ourselves that evening. We strolled along the black sand, ran from the waves crashing along the shore, and stayed out till the sun had long disappeared beyond the horizon and darkness fell. We hiked back up to our cars by the light of our headlamps — an experience I’ve always loved.
Thank you P+W for trusting in me and taking me out to Oregon to capture your love. It was so much fun adventuring till dark with you :’)
